The UKWC blog has been very quiet recently and I do apologise for the absence of updates to the website.
I do want to help keep the Club alive, so feel free to contact me with information, photos and updates for the website and I will do my best to include them. Last month I had the pleasure of attending the fundraising film premier of The Iron Lady. Although I took my 13 year old son along, who struggled to stay awake (clearly didn't appreciate the history lesson), I really enjoyed it and the Club raised almost $40,000 with the event. Congratulations to everyone involved! This month we have the elections for the new committee. I wish everyone good luck with volunteering and carrying on all the good work. On 9th June there will be a Grand Diamond Jubilee ball at the Hyatt Hotel. Be sure to put the date in your diary and book your tickets early to avoid disappointment. It's sure to be a wonderful event, and what a nice excuse to buy a new dress! Please contact Terri Sheed via [email protected] if you would like to help with this event. On 14th July, 10.30am - 12.30pm our President, Pauline Lynas, is hosting a fund raising coffee morning at her apartment in Westmoorings. There will be tea, coffee, juice and lots of lovely things to eat! Come and enjoy some friendly company and delicious food while helping to raise money for local charities. Contribution: $50 Contact us for more information.
Bring the family, a picnic basket and your camera and come and enjoy the peacefulness and birdsong of the country. Artists and photographers are welcome to enjoy the beauty of the garden. Raku pottery and plants will be on sale. Please see map for directions on our website: www.ajoupapottery.com. Time: Sunday May 1st from 9 am.
Bunty & Rory O'Connor Don't forget the UKWC monthly meeting this coming Thursday, 14th April at the Cascadia hotel. Come and meet old and new friends over a cup of coffee.
After the meeting Ruth Dennis has organised a delicious St George's Day lunch at the Normandie Hotel. If you would like to come along to this but haven't yet reserved your place, please contact us as soon as possible. |
